Two young adults who headed for the mountains to go camping just as a bomb cyclone was sweeping into Colorado were found safe late Friday morning, Arvada police said.

Michael Lee Gomez, 20, and Olivia Megan Schack, 19, were found near Ward.

“The couple was stranded and waited out storm walking to a nearby home,” an Arvada police report says.

Gomez and Schack left Tuesday as the historic blizzard was tearing through the mountains.

Since then, up to 48 inches of snow had piled up in the mountains.

The pair were planning on sleeping in a silver Lincoln SUV MKX, police said.
