A Douglas County elementary school was placed on lockout Monday for about an hour while deputies searched for a suspect who fled police.

The suspect fled from a stolen vehicle near Quebec Street and McCarthur Ranch Road, the sheriff’s office said on Twitter.

Though the sheriff’s office didn’t identify which school was on lockout, Wildcat Mountain Elementary School is close to that area.

Deputies set up a perimeter in the area and used a K-9 and drone for tracking, according to the tweet.

However, they did not locate the suspect in the area, and the school lockout was lifted.

At about 12:20 p.m., the sheriff’s office said on Twitter that the secure perimeter was being removed and the lockout lifted because the suspect was no longer thought to be in the area. The investigation is ongoing.

“No believed danger to the community,” the sheriff’s office tweeted.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
