Rockies LHP Kyle Freeland (17-7, 2.85 ERA in 2018) vs. Marlins RHP Jose Urena (9-12, 3.98 in 2018)
2:10 p.m. Thursday, Marlins Park
TV: ATT SportsNet. Radio: 850 AM/94.1 FM

Freeland will become the 19th opening day starter in franchise history and is making his first start against the Marlins. He finished fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting last season after posting the lowest full-season ERA in team history. Urena is making his second straight opening day start. He pitched very well last September, going 5-0 with a 1.20 ERA.

Trending: Colorado is 7-17 at Marlins Park since it opened in 2012 and has only won consecutive games here one time, and never in the same season (May 23, 2012, Aug. 23, 2013). Overall since 2012, the Rockies are 17-30 against the Marlins.

At issue: The Rockies’ bullpen was shaky during spring training, with right-handers and , as well as lefty , getting hit hard — especially early in Cactus League play. The good news is that right-hander looks like a solid replacement for departed set-up man .

Upcoming pitching matchups
