Denver firefighters evacuated five floors of a building Thursday morning as crews worked on an accidental Freon leak.
Denver Fire Department spokesman Greg Pixley said the leak at 1801 California St., happened during a maintenance project on the 14th floor, and floors 12 through 16 were evacuated. An alarm alerted crews to the leak around 10:43 a.m.
The building is occupied by commercial tenants. The evacuation was lifted around noon. But fire officials said on Twitter traffic would continue to be affected while work crews finished their jobs.
The fire department restricted access to the building to ensure all hazards were eliminated and the leak repaired, Pixley said. The fire department posted on Twitter that hazards were eliminated shortly before noon.
No one has reported injuries or was transported to a hospital, he said.
Fire Department officials said traffic will continue to be affected until crews finish cleanup in the area.
