Getting your player ready...

Hey, Denver: You don’t know how good Drew Lock is. I’m a Mizzou fan and have been watching him for years. Lock is the best quarterback in this 2019 NFL draft class, I promise you.

Kenny, tells tall Tiger tales

Kiz: Best in class? I will pass that information along to Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins for you. Lock played against Georgia’s Jake Fromm and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, two of the best QB prospects for the 2020 draft, last season. And got his fanny kicked. So maybe itap a good thing Lock turned pro this year.

Lock was a top-10 talent in this draft. The Broncos got him at No. 42 in the second round.

Kiz: OK, neither math nor deductive logic was one of my strengths in school. (Lunch was my favorite subject.) But it seems to me that if John Elway was 100 percent sold on Lock being a top-10 talent, the Broncos would’ve selected him at No. 10, instead of trading the pick to Pittsburgh.

All I care about is Elway keeps swinging in his search for a quarterback. I just want the new guy to be Drew Lock and create his own identity … hopefully with a ton of wins and a few Super Bowls.

Steven, asking for a lot

Kiz: I love fans. Love their optimism. The NFL draft is a party that celebrates eternal optimism. Within an hour after Denver selected Lock in the second round, however, I heard Broncomaniacs compare him to Steve Young, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Patrick Mahomes. But no pressure, right? Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has thrown 188 touchdown passes in his NFL career. I would be happy if Lock proved to be as good as Dalton. Would you?

How about we start with 188 yards from Lock and go from there?

Chad, the prince of LoDo

Kiz: Are you trying to tell me apountry tends to get carried away with emotion in anticipation of greatness from a young quarterback? Never! Well, at least not since Tim Tebow.

As long as Lock doesn’t turn into Paxton Lynch or Brock Lobster 2.0, I’ll be pleased.

Ricardo, Dominican Republic

Kiz: Can’t promise you how his football skills will translate to the NFL, but can tell you without hesitation that Lock has swag. His personality has nothing in common with Lynch, who was just another wide-eyed, 20-something lost in traffic on Speer Boulevard. And unlike Brock Osweiler, I would be shocked if Lock is satisfied to patiently sit on the bench and watch somebody else play quarterback.

If history repeats, Lock will be utter garbage.

Ryan, Wishek, N. D.

Kiz: That Elway has stunk at picking quarterbacks isn’t Lock’s fault. So while I’m not sold on him, all I’m saying is: Letap give the kid a chance. But should Lock turn out to be garbage, will Elway be given another chance to pick a quarterback for the Broncos?

And today’s parting shot gives me one last shot at finally giving the correct answer to a sports question.

Know what you call a washed-up sports reporter who always gets it wrong? Hint: Itap you.
