Word spread quickly on social media Saturday afternoon that something big was happening in Wiggins that evening.

Dalton Risner was heading back to Wiggins, and the whole community was invited to come welcome the newly minted Denver Bronco at a parade happening at 5 p.m. Saturday. The night before, the selected Risner with their No. 41 pick in the NFL draft, and it was time for the town to celebrate.

“Let’s fill the MAIN street with ORANGE & BLUE!” read the invitation to the parade that was posted on Facebook. “Please spread the word!!! Let’s start from the grocery store and bring it around to main down towards the good ol pump house!”

That invitation got shared over and over on social media, including by the Wiggins Rural Fire Protection District.

By 5 p.m. Saturday, people had indeed turned out to line the streets in Wiggins in anticipation of Risner’s triumphant return to his home town as a Bronco.
