Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg took a few moments away from his own campaign to endorse Mayor Michael Hancock in his bid for a third term as Denver’s mayor.
“I’m proud to call you a friend and endorse you in your reelection for mayor,” Buttigieg said in a posted to Twitter by Hancock on Tuesday night.
"I'm proud to know South Bend Mayor,
and even prouder to have him endorse my campaign. Thank you, Pete, for believing in the progress we are making here in Denver, and for all your work to move our nation forward." -Michael B. Hancock— Michael Hancock (@HancockforDen)
The mayor of South Bend, Ind., a rising star in the Democratic presidential primary, isn’t the only White House hopeful to back Hancock. Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has also endorsed Denver’s mayor in his bid for reelection.
The Buttigieg video comes a week before an election in which Hancock is facing six opponents: Penfield Tate, Jamie Giellis, Lisa Calderón, Kalyn Rose Heffernan and Stephan “Seku” Evans.
