Enes Kanter had a message to the Nuggets Thursday morning: “Take control of your fans.”

The 26-year-old Portland center took to Twitter to address a report from ESPN’s Royce Young of one fan who yelled, “Go back to Turkey, oh wait you can’t!”

The incident allegedly happened late in the fourth quarter after Nuggets center Nikola Jokic appeared to shove Kanter after a free-throw attempt. The push sent Kanter into Denver’s Torrey Craig, who slammed onto the court. A skirmish broke out between the teams and drew technical fouls for Kanter and Nuggets guard Gary Harris. The Trail Blazers would win 97-90 to tie the series at 1-1.

In a tweet, Kanter said, “I wish I could go back to Turkey to see family. But I chose to support democracy, freedom and human rights, I am grateful for most Americans supporting that right.”

The Swiss-born Turk has long been critical of Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, even calling him the “” in 2017. After the game he tweeted “Only Turkish player out here tonight, and the official @NBA for Turkey @NBAturkiye is censoring me. They dont show blazers games in Turkey. The government controls people, this a problem.”
