Former Broncos wide receiver is thankful he didn’t die from a high-speed crash in Denver in February.

“Just having another opportunity,” . “I could’ve been gone, but I still get another opportunity. I wake up every morning and thank the lord above and just thank him for … being able to do what I do. Being able to talk, walk, eat — all those things we forget about on a daily basis. It was a tough time, I’m still going through stuff.

“I’m blessed. I have another opportunity, I have friends, family that love me. That’s all I ask for.”

Thomas, 31, was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash at 12:20 a.m. Feb. 16 after driving a silver Ford Edge at 70 mph in a 30 mph zone on Auraria Parkway. He drove off the left side of the road, struck a median, went airborne and tumbled the car before it landed on its wheels.

Thomas pleaded guilty on March 27 to a charge of careless driving as part of a plea deal in which prosecutors dismissed other charges connected to serious car crash.

The Pro Bowl receiver played nine seasons in Denver before he was traded to the Houston Texans for a fourth-round pick. He signed with the New England Patriots in April.
