More options for bus routes from Denver to Fort Collins and Vail began again this month after a shortage of qualified drivers forced the Colorado Department of Transportation to temporarily suspend the services.

The new times add more options for those traveling the interstates. Buses will leave for Vail at 2:45 p.m. from the Denver Bus Center and depart from Vail at 6 a.m. every day of the week. Buses will leave from Denver Union Station for Fort Collins at 1:25 p.m. Monday through Friday and depart Fort Collins at 10:30 a.m. those days.

The transportation department suspended the routes in late 2018 because the contractor that runs the buses, Ace Express Coaches, could not find enough qualified drivers with commercial driver’s licenses.

“Fortunately, our contractor was able to hire additional CDL drivers, allowing us to bring both these trips back into service,” Mike Timlin, CDOT’s Bustang Operations Manager, said in a news release. “Even though, at the time, we lacked the personnel to keep running at full service, we knew we’d resume both of these popular routes when we had enough qualified drivers in place. We’re glad to have both up and running again, especially in advance of the upcoming summer season.”
