The 2019 NHL draft is Friday and the Avalanche has two first-round picks. Earlier this month we took a look at what various mock drafts have Colorado selecting at No. 4. Here’s a look at what some national outlets are thinking the Avs will do at No. 16:

NBC Sports’ Sammi Silber has Colorado :
“He has a great hockey mind and thinks fast on his feet, and he’s also outstanding on offense, able to unload a heavy shot and craft strong passes. He’s the type of talent that can quarterback a power play and become a strong puck-moving blueliner.”

ESPN’S Chris Peters has the :
“I know there are Colorado fans who would really love to see the team use No. 16 on goaltender Spencer Knight, but if you can land a high-end goalie prospect in the second round, you can maximize the first-round gains. And (Pyotr) Kochetkov is a late-blooming prospect who has all of the tools to be an NHL netminder.”

Rotoworld’s Ryan Wagman :
“Newhook, like many of the players up for grabs so far, is coming off a fine showing for Team Canada at the U18 tournament. He has advanced hockey sense and brings terrific skating to the table for his team. His puck skills allow him to always be at the center of the attack.”

NHL.com’s Guillaume Lepage has :
“The New York-born forward had an impressive season offensively in the OHL, and although some aspects of his game need work, Kaliyev could help the Avalanche solidify their offensive depth in the next few seasons.”

NHL.com’s Mike G. Morreale has the Avs going defense :
“He’s a solid two-way defenseman with excellent vision, creativity and an understanding of his role in all areas of the ice.”

NHL.com’s Adam Kimelman has :
“He is still growing into a body that grew from 5-10 when he arrived at the NTDP two seasons ago to 6-2 as he heads to Boston College in the fall. With Cozens and Boldy, it won’t be long before the Avalanche have dynamic scoring depth up front.”
