
Boulder’s Tube to Work Day, , has been pushed back a week due to conditions on Boulder Creek.
The event will now take place at 8 a.m. July 19 at Eben G. Fine Park, 101 Arapahoe Ave., according to a post on the eventap Facebook page.
A strong winter and a wet spring have across the state, with several deaths in other parts of the state and a tubing ban already in place .
The indicates Boulder Creek was at about 660 cubic feet per second on Tuesday near Boulder.
“Flows are currently way too high for a mass aquatic commute,” Tube To Work Day cofounder Jeff Kagan wrote in an email Tuesday morning. “I’ve been consulting with the city of Boulder’s Water Resource Department as well as a hydrologist up at Betasso and all the data/graphs give me confidence that the 19th is a safe bet.”
The event, now in its 12th year, last year who tubed down Boulder Creek to celebrate alternative transportation.
The event is free, but tubers are required to sign a waiver. and will continue until the morning of the event, where walk-ups also can register.
Helmets and closed-toed footwear are mandatory, while life jackets and wetsuits are strongly recommended in addition to work attire.
Participants also are encouraged to avoid driving to the event..
