Southbound lanes on a stretch of Interstate 25 north of Colorado Springs shut down for several hours Wednesday because of a hazardous materials spill.

The closure, from Northgate Boulevard to Briorgate Parkway near the U.S. Air Force Academy, lasted for about four hours as crews worked to clean up the spill, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Two of three lanes reopened a about 9 p.m., with the right lane remaining closed.
The Colorado Department of Transportation urged drivers to take alternate routes while the cleanup was in progress.
