A wildfire is burning in southern Colorado near Blanca Peak, and firefighters — with air support –are on the remote scene battling it.

The fire is about five acres, the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday afternoon. Two airplanes and a helicopter are working on the fire along with 25 firefighters.
Blanca Peak, the highest summit in the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, has a 14,351-foot summit. The peak is northeast of Alamosa, east of Colorado 150, and south of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
