The Coloradoan the wolf dog named Skye was flown to Fort Collins on Tuesday for her new home at the rescue facility W.O.L.F Sanctuary.

Staff at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital evaluated Skye, finding a life-threatening hernia in her diaphragm.

Sanctuary staff says Skye underwent the 90-minute surgery Wednesday.

Officials say Skye had been chained to a tree and rarely fed for years before she was rescued.
