Thinking about giving climbing a try? This weekend is your chance.
For Global Climbing Day on Aug. 24, The North Face teamed up with more than 280 climbing gyms across the world, including 15 in Colorado, to offer free or discounted entry. Denver’s participating gyms are Movement Climbing + Fitness (both the RiNo and Baker locations) and Übergrippen Indoor Climbing Crag.
Only 4% of the general population identifies as a rock climber but 30% are interested in learning, according to research by The North Face. Non-climbers perceived the sport as intimidating, expensive and inaccessible.
The North Face said itap partnering with gyms on Global Climbing Day to help increase access to the sport.
