An SUV tumbled, landing on its roof, on Black Bear Pass near Telluride on Wednesday, damaging the vehicle and closing the pass until Thursday.

The driver, the only person in the SUV, was not seriously injured, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office.

Black Bear Pass is a popular, challenging Jeep trail that starts at 11,018 feet, at the summit of Red Mountain Pass on U.S. 550, and continues to Telluride.

The pass will be closed until Thursday so the SUV can be removed. Wednesday’s accident happened “on ‘the stairs’ by Ingram Falls, blocking all traffic except motorbikes,” the sheriff’s office said.

Four-wheel-drive traffic was turned around and rerouted Wednesday because of the crash. Bridal Veil Road remained open.
