COMMERCE CITY — Fort Collins native and former Colorado Rapids player Colin Clark died Monday at the age of 35.

The 35-year-old spent nine seasons in MLS, including five for the Rapids, three for the Houston Dynamo and one for the L.A. Galaxy. The midfielder made 138 appearances in the league, scoring 15 goals and adding 13 assists.

Clark made it to the U.S. national team, getting a cap in 2009 and playing 76 minutes against Haiti. Ultimately injuries, including a recurring knee issue, led to his retirement.

Clark is the second former Rapids player to die in the past seven days.Junior Agogo, 40, died Thursday. He suffered a massive stroke in 2015.
