A Denver police motorcycle officer was injured on Interstate 70 near Havana Street on Tuesday night, and the incident shut down the westbound lanes of the highway in the area.
Denver police tweeted at midnight that the officer sustained serious injuries and was recovering.
The officer was taken to Denver Health Medical Center with an escort of fellow officers in separate vehicles, police spokesman Kurt Barnes said.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the westbound lanes are closed near Havana Street by a traffic crash. Westbound traffic is being detoured onto Interstate 225.

The westbound lanes of the highway are closed between Exit 282 (I-225) and Exit 280 (Havana Street), CDOT said.
Denver police said in a midnight tweet that it was continuing its investigation and that I-70 would be “opening soon.”
