All right, all right, all right… Huston Street has gone back to school.
The former MLB closer who spent 13 seasons in professional baseball with the A’s, Rockies, Padres and Angels is now a student once again at the University of Texas at Austin.
Street will also be back on the baseball team as a student assistant coach with the Longhorns in 2020.
The former pitcher was a three-time All-American with Texas from 2002-04 and was on the College World Series national championship team in 02.
After a stellar collegiate career he was drafted in the first round of the 2004 MLB draft by the Oakland Athletics with the 40th pick.
The UT baseball program has had an influx of former MLB players added to their coaching staff. Former Rockies all-star Troy Tulowitzki joined the staff earlier this summer.
Tulo is taking his coaching duties seriously as he is make sure the student athletes at Texas are making it to class on time. That goes for Street as well, as on Wednesday.
It is sure to be a fun semester for Street and Co. this fall down in Austin.
He’s got his lunch packed up…his boots tied tight…
Three years on the Forty Acres, 13 years in , and now… is back to school, back to school…
