Castle View needed late-game dramatics to come back and edge Fossil Ridge with a two-point conversion a week ago.

There was no need for such theatrics Friday night against Arapahoe, as the Sabercats scored 23 straight points to open the game and held on from there for a 23-13 victory in Castle Rock.

Castle View scored a touchdown apiece in the first three quarters, starting with a five-yard plunge from Jordan Jackson on the team’s first drive of the game. Antonio Ursetta found the end zone in the second quarter with a 25-yard reverse, and Ian Purse burst for a 70-yard scoring run in the third that gave the Sabercats a 20-0 lead at the 7:43 mark.

Toby McTamney added a field goal before Arapahoe finally put points on the scoreboard late in the third quarter with a touchdown. They scored again in the fourth, but it ended up being too little, too late.

The win puts Castle View at 2-0 for the first time in Class 5A play with a trip to Chaparral set for next Thursday.
