La Junta earned a win when they beat Kent Denver 21-7 on Friday, Sept. 20.
La Junta’s rushing game was paced by Ryan Malden who tallied 84 yards in the contest, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. Nathan Frankmore added 65 yards on the ground, averaging 10.8 yards per carry. Antonio Chavez chipped in with 62 yards and one touchdown, averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
Alec Romo-Nichols led Kent Denver’s passing attack with 56 yards through the air. Romo-Nichols’ most prolific receiver in the ballgame was Matthew Redmond, who caught three passes for 25 yards.
Miles Adams lead all Kent Denver rushers with 56 yards in the contest.
In their next games, La Junta will stay home and play Raton, while Kent Denver will travel to play Pueblo Centennial.
