Lamar earned a win when they defeated Burlington 43-27 on Friday, Sept. 20.

Zane Rankin led Lamar’s passing attack with 168 yards through the air. Walker Kee was also Lamar’s leading receiver on the day. Blake Buxton got in on the action in the passing game as well, grabbing three balls for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Damian Ramos lead the Lamar ground attack by accumulating 72 yards and one touchdown in the contest, averaging 36 yards per carry. Kee added 53 yards and one touchdown on the ground, averaging 5.3 yards per carry, as well as 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Michael Gutierrez powered Burlington’s passing attack with 63 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown and one interception. Burlington’s leading receiver was Andrew Burton, who caught five passes for 59 yards and one score.

Taylor Scott paced the Burlington rushing attack by running for 114 yards in the game, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

In their next games, Lamar will play host to Alamosa, while Burlington will travel to play Manual.
