Sand Creek couldn’t quite keep up with a potent Hinkley squad, losing by a score of 46-14 on Friday.
Xavier Starks led Hinkley’s aerial attack with 77 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns with no interceptions. Starks also added 125 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Starks’ favorite receiver in the contest was Jerry Taylor, who caught five passes for 50 yards and one score.
In addition to Starks’ effort, Ty’ren Draper paced the Hinkley ground game by running for 91 yards in the game, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Richard Taylor contributed 64 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 9.1 yards per carry.
Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Hinkley hosting George Washington and Sand Creek taking on Pueblo Central.
