The Avalanche on Sunday trimmed its roster to 26 players by reassigning forwards A.J. Greer, Shane Bowers and T.J. Tynan and defenseman Kevin Connauton to the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League.

Greer, Tynan and Connauton must clear waivers to report to the Eagles. Greer was a 2015 second-round pick (39th overall) by the Avs. Tynan was signed as a free agent July 1 and Colorado acquired Connauton in a June trade that sent center to the .

The Avs are now carrying 14 forwards, nine defensemen and two goalies. They must get down to 23 players in the days leading into Thursday’s regular-season opener against the at the .
