One quick look at the game status report Sunday for Broncos-Jaguars exposes the biggest Denver disappointment, among many to pick from, over its winless start.
An undeniably disappointing free-agent class.
CB Bryce Callahan (Bears)Ìı– Thrived under Vic Fangio’s direction in Chicago, but you’d never know this season. Callahan has been sidelined since late July with a foot injury that now requires surgery; adding four-to-six weeks in rehabilitation time.
RT Ja’Wuan James (Dolphins)Ìı— Made the NFL’s highest-paid right tackle and suffered a kneeÌıinjury in his first game at Oakland. James has not played since and is ruled out Sunday.
CB/S Kareem Jackson (Texans)Ìı— Brought needed versatility to Denver’s secondary before suffering a hamstring injury at Green Bay. Jackson did not practice this week and is questionable Sunday.
RB Theo Riddick (Lions)Ìı— An ideal pass-catching back in Rich Scangarello’s offense who endured a shoulder injury in his first preseason appearance. Riddick was placed on injured reserve.
There is still time for the Broncos’ 2019 free-agent class to redeem itself, but time is of the essence at 0-3, as quarterback Joe Flacco (Ravens) is the lone big offseason signing who has at least matched outside expectations entering Week 4 against Jaguars.
No doubt, the Broncos miss their newcomers.
