Mountain Valley won by just a single point over Sierra Grande on Saturday.
Mountain Valley quarterback Dylan Wingate led the aerial attack with 84 yards through the air, throwing three touchdowns and one interception. Mountain Valley’s leading receiver was Cedar Ross, who caught two passes for 53 yards and one score.
Mountain Valley’s ground attack was lead by Elijah Roberts who tallied 142 yards and two touchdowns in the contest, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. Tristan Martinez added 81 yards on the ground, averaging 5.8 yards per carry.
A.J. Ojeda led Sierra Grande’s passing attack with 112 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown and one interception. Ojeda’s most relied on target in the game was Angelo Lucero, who caught one pass for 59 yards.
Isaiah Chairez spearheaded the Sierra Grande rushing attack by finishing with 127 yards and two touchdowns in the contest, averaging 9.1 yards per carry. Chairez also tacked on 29 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Mountain Valley hosting Manzanola and Sierra Grande taking on Cripple Creek-Victor.
