Conifer won by a single touchdown in their 35-28 win over Fort Morgan on Saturday.
Conifer quarterback J.R. Hart led the passing attack with 254 yards through the air, tossing three touchdowns and one interception. Sam Horneck lead all Conifer receivers with five catches for 113 yards and two scores.
Conifer’s ground attack was paced by Noah Wagner who accrued 181 yards and two touchdowns in the game, averaging 10.1 yards per carry. Wagner also tacked on 75 receiving yards. Sam Dunivan added 66 yards on the ground, averaging 9.4 yards per carry, as well as 44 receiving yards.
Briggs Wheatley led Fort Morgan’s passing attack with 163 yards through the air. Wheatley also added 159 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Wheatley’s most reliable receiver in the ballgame was Jacob Ortega, who caught five passes for 73 yards.
In addition to Wheatley’s effort, Frank Ortega lead the Fort Morgan rushing attack by racking up 13 yards in the contest.
Fort Morgan will stay home and play Northfield, while Conifer will travel to play Skyview.
