Erie easily defeated Canon City by a score of 35-7 on Friday, Sept. 27.
Erie quarterback Gavin Mendoza led the passing attack with 81 yards through the air, throwing two touchdowns without an interception. Erie’s leading receiver was Grayson Schenbeck, who caught one pass for 42 yards.
Mason Veve lead the Erie rushing game by racking up 159 yards and two touchdowns in the contest, averaging 7.2 yards per carry.
Harrison Pilafas powered Canon City’s passing attack with 114 yards through the air. Raymond Cammel was also Canon City’s leading receiver on the day.
Cammel spearheaded the Canon City ground game by gaining 169 yards and one touchdown in the game, averaging 7 yards per carry. Cammel also tacked on 46 receiving yards.
Looking ahead to their next games, Erie will stay home and play Mead, while Canon City will travel to play Sand Creek.
