LOS ANGELES — Broncos cornerback De’Vante Bausby was carted off the field Sunday against the Chargers at Dignity Health Sports Park as Denver held a 14-0 lead in the second quarter.

The play happened on a 3-yard carry by Chargers running back Austin Ekeler, the first play after Broncos quarterback fumbled on a strip-sack by linebacker Uchenna Nwosu.

Bausby took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Broncos inside linebacker Alexander Johnson as the two went to make the tackle on Ekeler.

Several Broncos trainers quickly got to Bausby and he was placed on a backboard and transported off the field via cart.

Bausby took over the starting role from Isaac Yiadom last week against Jacksonville. With Bausby out, Yiadom will take over some of those reps.

After being carted off the field, the Broncos announced Bausby suffered a neck injury. He has movement in his extremities, and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
