A juvenile male was shot Tuesday night in a parking lot at Sheridan High School, police said.
The victim who was shot was taken to Denver General Hospital and was in surgery late Tuesday, police said in a news release.
According to the release, reports from witnesses indicated a group of people was in an altercation in the parking lot in front of the high school, 3201 W. Oxford Ave., and a suspect fired at least one round from a handgun, striking the male victim.
The victim, a juvenile, does not attend Sheridan schools, police said.
The news release said there was a volleyball game in progress when the shooting occurred and the school was temporarily placed on lockdown.
Police didn’t release any information about a suspect Tuesday.
