A former Aurora police officer has pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from two department charities, including a fund for orphans.

Roland Thomas Albert, 39, pleaded guilty on Monday to theft between $20,000 and $100,000 before Arapahoe District Judge Ben Leutwyler, according to court records.

Prosecutors charged Albert with stealing about $80,000 from the Aurora Police Orphans Fund and a second charity, Brotherhood of the Fallen, . Albert had served as treasurer for both of the charity funds but resigned from the department in 2018 during a criminal investigation.

Albert is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 16.
