Mountain Valley earned a win when they defeated Manzanola 19-13 on Friday, Oct. 11 at Mountain Valley High School, Stadium.
In addition to Elijah Roberts’ effort, Tristan Martinez lead the Mountain Valley rushing game by running for 41 yards in the game, averaging 6.8 yards per carry.
Manzanola quarterback Axel Escareno led the passing attack with 54 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown and one interception. Escareno also added 99 yards on the ground. Manzanola’s leading receiver was Blake Williams, who caught three passes for 54 yards and one score.
In addition to Axel Escareno’s effort, Dalton Carroll paced the Manzanola rushing game by finishing with 51 yards in the contest, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.
Both teams will stay at home in their next contest, with Mountain Valley hosting Cripple Creek-Victor and Manzanola taking on La Veta.
