If you look at Brock Osweiler’s stats during his tenure with the Broncos, they were fairly unremarkable: 59.3% completion for 3,214 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 11 starts. Numbers that leave him around the Steve DeBerg or Case Keenum in the hallowed hall of Broncos quarterbacks.
But it wasn’t his career numbers that left a lasting legacy in Broncos lore, it was his role in the team’s Super Bowl 50 run.

Osweiler, 28, on Wednesday in an interview with KUSA-9. He played seven years in the NFL.
In 2015, after Peyton Manning suffered a partially torn plantar fascia ligament, Osweiler stepped up as the Broncos’ starter, leading Denver to a 5-2 record in his seven starts in relief.
But perhaps his biggest win was in Week 12 against Tom Brady and the visiting New England Patriots.
Former Denver Post writer Troy Renck wrote: “It unearthed a quarterback in Brock Osweiler who seems determined to clench his starting job with two fists, whether or not Peyton Manning returns to health.”
Down 21-17 late in the fourth quarter, Osweiler connected with Andre Caldwell for a 4-yard touchdown to give Denver the lead. A field goal by Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski forced overtime.
The Broncos didn’t waste time in OT. Running back C.J. Anderson scored on a 48-yard touchdown run to clinch the victory. Anderson told The Denver Post after the game that it was Osweiler who changed the play for the monster third-and-1 run.
The victory was a needed one. Both Denver and New England finished the regular season at 12-4 and the Broncos held the tiebreaker with the head-to-head win. The Broncos would beat the Patriots, 20-18, in the AFC championship game at the then-named Sports Authority Field at Mile High. And the Denver would go on to win the Super Bowl.
