Weekend weather: Denver to be sunny and warm, snow in mountains, fire danger on plains

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the plains and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the high country

Denver should be sunny and see highs in the low 60s on Saturday, according to the in Boulder.

On Saturday the expected high drops to 53 and the winds pick up, the weather service said.

A has been issued for metro Denver and the eastern plains due to high grassland fire danger between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday.

“The combination of strongest winds and lowest humidities will be along and south of the I-70 corridor on the plains,” the weather service said.

In the high country, snow and wind are expected Saturday night, NWS said.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of the high country from 9 p.m. Saturday through noon Sunday. Snow totals of 4-10 inches are expected and wind gusts up to 50 mph.

“Be prepared for hazardous winter travel due to snow covered roads and reduced visibility,” the weather service warned.
