Two weeks after Arapahoe Basin and Keystone to get the 2019-20 Colorado ski season rolling, Loveland will open for the season on Friday, Oct. 25.
“Our snowmaking team has been working around the clock to get the mountain ready, and all of their hard work is about to pay off,” Chief Operating Officer Rob Goodell said in a Tuesday. “Mother Nature chipped in with almost a foot of snow during this last storm cycle, and that was the boost we needed. Winter is officially here, and we can’t wait to celebrate the start of another season.”

Loveland will open at 9 a.m. Friday, utilizing the , a quad chair that was christened last year as the area’s first high-speed lift. As usual on opening day, there will be one run composed of three trails — Catwalk, Mambo and Home Run — over a mile in length with a vertical drop of nearly 1,000 feet.
Early-season lift tickets will cost $75 for adults and $32 for children.

For decades, Loveland has vied with one of its nearby neighbors to become the first Colorado area to open, but and Keystone followed the next day. A-Basin responded to Loveland’s news on Tuesday with a congratulatory tweet. Last year, Loveland opened Oct. 20.

The next two areas to watch will be Summit County rivals Copper Mountain and Breckenridge, both of which are currently scheduled to open on Nov. 8 but conceivably could open earlier, depending on snowfall in the coming weeks.
“It’s always possible that Mother Nature could help move us to an earlier opening, but as of right now Breck is still scheduled to open on Nov. 8,” said Breckenridge spokesperson Sara Lococo. “The mountain is looking awesome with all the snow and snowmaking has been cranking.”
Copper Mountain received 11 inches in the past 48 hours but snowmaking crews are focused on covering the slope where the U.S. Ski Team and alpine racers from other teams get in crucial preseason downhill training every year. Racers will begin to arrive over the next week.
“The snow certainly helps across the board,” said Copper Mountain spokesperson Taylor Prather, “and we can’t wait to open to the public on Nov. 8.”
Winter Park, which is slated to open Nov. 13, began snowmaking operations on Monday.
