A driver in Castle Pines left a roadway, slicing through a section of golf course and crashing into a home, firefighters said.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon as the homeowner was sitting on the couch along with her dogs, according to South metro Fire Rescue.

The driver, in a sedan, plowed through a section of The Ridge at Castle Pines North. The home that was smashed is on Middleham Place.

The driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. No one in the home was physically injured.

The fire department’s heavy rescue unit removed the car from the home and stabilized the structure.

A truck towed the sedan away from the crash scene. Firefighters fastened a tarp to the residence to help keep cold weather out and to prevent further damage. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
