The Sixth Avenue Freeway in Denver closed Thursday night in both directions near the Interstate 25 exchange because of weather-related, multi-vehicle crashes.
The shutdown happened about 7 p.m. after crashes on eastbound Sixth Avenue and on I-25, police said.
More than 50 vehicles were involved, and injuries were reported, police said.
UPDATE: The crash @ EB 6th Ave & SB I-25 is estimated to have involved over 50 Vehicles. Although injuries were reported, the crash resulted in no life-threatening injuries. Both directions of 6th Ave remain closed at present in that area.

Westbound lanes are closed at Kalamath Street, and eastbound lanes are closed at Federal Boulevard. There is no estimated time for reopening. No life-threatening injuries have been reported.
