The man who allegedly fired nine shots from an AR-15 rifle from a RiNo parking garage on Saturday was carrying two 30-round magazines and a 10-round magazine, according to a Denver Police Department document.
Bryan Lambert, 39, has been arrested on suspicion of having prohibited high-capacity magazines, criminal mischief and tampering with a motor vehicle, according to the police department’s probable cause statement. He is being held on a $5,000 bond at the Downtown Detention Center.
No one was injured in the shooting, but Lambert’s alleged actions led police to close several streets surrounding the parking garage in the 2700 block of Blake Street after 911 callers reported shots being fired. The shots sent some pedestrians and cyclists scrambling for cover while others in the area did not recognize the sounds as gunshots.
Lambert allegedly fired from several levels of the parking garage, police said. A witness told police that she saw a man pacing in the parking garage and occasionally leaning over the edge and firing into traffic, the police statement said. Officers also watched surveillance footage from Coors Field security that showed a man leaning over the wall and firing into traffic.
A 2019 black Volkswagen Jetta and a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe received more than $1,000 in damage each, the police statement said.
When police found Lambert he had a Smith & Wesson MP15 AR-15 rifle in his hand. He also had a 30-round magazine with 30 .223-caliber bullets, a 30-round magazine with 20 .223-caliber bullets and a 10-round magazine with 10 .223-caliber bullets, the probable cause statement said.
The police statement did not provide a suspected motive to the shooting.
Lambert has an arrest record dating back to 2004, according to a Colorado Bureau of Investigation criminal background check. His convictions include third-degree assault, obstructing a peace officer and contempt of court in 2013 in Mesa County, and a disorderly conduct charge in 2017 in Englewood, records show.
