
Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed at Vail and Silverthorne because of poor driving conditions as snow pounded Colorado’s high country Saturday.
The Colorado Department of Transportation tweeted an update Saturday night lifting the eastbound safety closure at Exit 180, East Vail.

U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass is also closed. Earlier in the day I-70 westbound was closed briefly for “avalanche reduction work.”
The transportation department warned drivers Saturday afternoon that being on the mountain corridor “is not for the faint of heart,” citing whiteout conditions, snow throughout the day and wind up to 45 miles per hour.
“Travel is EXTREMELY difficult & highly congested in areas,” CDOT tweeted.
