The Air Force Falcons will be Colorado’s lone representative when the NCAA’s football bowl games kick off on Dec. 20. The Falcons will take on the Washington State Cougars at 8:15 p.m. Dec. 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix in the Cheez-It Bowl.
As of , Air Force is a 3-point favorite and the oddsmaker is expecting a high-scoring affair with the over-under for combined points sitting at 67.5 points.
So what can we expect from the Falcons? Here’s how some national media outlets are predicting the Cheez-It Bowl:
From : “Neither team has spent much time dealing with what the other does well. The Falcons don’t see passing attacks like Wazzu’s, and the Cougars don’t see option offenses like Air Force’s. Which defense can adjust, prepare and at least momentarily slow down the opponent?” Score: Air Force 45, Washington State 42.
From : “The Cheez-It Bowl made sure to get an entertaining matchup after the interception festival between Cal and TCU last season. The Cougars were 4-8 against the spread this season, and they are playing a team that finished season on seven-game win streak. Still, Mike Leach will throw a wrench in that.” Score: Washington State 44, Air Force 41.
From Associated Press’ Ralph D. Russo: “Last year’s Cheez-It Bowl was a glorious 10-7 OT debacle between Cal and TCU. So bad it was great. This year features the yin and yang of college football. Air Force’s triple-option averages 57 rushes per game. Wazzu’s Air Raid attack averages 56 passes per game.” Score: Air Force 31, Washington State 27
From : “The pre-playoff bowl game that captured America’s hearts and minds is back. This time, we get Mike Leach, a resurgent Air Force team and, of course, Cheez-Its. The teams won’t combine for nine interceptions again, and should score more than two touchdowns, but there will be drama right down to the end. Anthony Gordon and his receivers challenge Air Force, but everyone knows defense wins Cheez-It Bowl championships, and Air Force has the edge there.” Score: Air Force 37, Washington State 31.
