Santa Claus will be making the rounds at many Colorado ski resorts for Christmas. But thatap not the only holiday fun to be had.
Here’s a list of holiday festivities at Colorado ski areas. (Go to each resortap website for more details.)
Copper Mountain: There’s a lot going on at Center Village on Christmas Eve. It starts with a DJ (4:45 to 7 p.m.), followed by an ugly sweater contest (5:30 p.m.), kids glowstick parade (6 p.m.), a torchlight parade down the mountain (6:15 p.m.) and fireworks (6:30 p.m.). There also will be candlelight services at the Copper Mountain Chapel (5 and 7:30 p.m.).
Arapahoe Basin: Santa will visit during the day on Christmas Eve, arriving at 11 a.m. to hand out candy to children in the A-Frame Lodge and Mountain Goat Plaza. He will then stop by the Molly Hogan beginner lift and the Black Mountain Lodge at mid-mountain before departing at 1 p.m.
Loveland ski area: Despite his global appointed rounds, Santa Claus will find time to ski on Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. until Christmas Day until 3 p.m. (so keep an eye out for a big guy in a red suit on the slopes). He also will visit the Ski & Ride School and the Children’s Center, handing out candy canes and posing for photos
Monarch: Santa will ski the mountain (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) on Christmas Eve, passing out candy canes.
Wolf Creek: Santa will ski and hand out candy canes throughout the day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Christmas dinner — featuring Cornish game hens with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and dessert — will be served beginning at 11 a.m. at the Upper Lodge.
Purgatory: Santa will be at the base area on Dec. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and he’s bringing Mrs. Claus with him. There will be a party on Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Durango Mountain Institute, with supplies provided.
Crested Butte: Santa’s sleigh will stop by the base area during après ski on Christmas Eve, and he’ll be available for photos, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Winter Park: A torchlight parade starts at 5:30 p.m., with a bonfire in the base and fireworks.
