As Nolan Arenado continues to prove himself as one of the best players in the majors — and perhaps the greatest third baseman of all time — his hometown of Lake Forest, California, added to his local legacy by naming a street after the all-star.
The new “Nolan Arenado Drive” was unveiled on Saturday in a ceremony at Lake Forest Sports Park. The street leads from the sports park to a main parkway, and it’s the first time in city history a street’s been named for a contemporary person.
Arenado, who played Little League in Lake Forest before starring at El Toro High School from 2006 to 2009, hit .517 with 5 homers, 14 doubles and 23 RBIs in 28 games as a senior. He also led the Chargers to a CIF championship during his junior year and had his No. 12 retired by the school in 2014.
The 28-year-old, a seven-time Gold Glove winner, enters his eighth season with the Rockies in 2020. He hit .315 with 42 homers last season while earning his fifth straight all-star selection.
