After eight-plus seasons, Dave Pilipovich on Monday was fired from his position as the men’s head basketball coach at Air Force.

Air Force finished 12-20 this season, the school’s seventh consecutive losing season. Pilipovich compiled a 110-151 record at AFA.

“The bottom line is we have to be more competitive on the court,” Air Force director of athletics Nathan Pine said in a statement. “We entered this season with a senior-laden and talented team with high expectations; unfortunately we did not meet our goals as a program. It’s clear to me that a change in leadership is necessary at this time for us to move the program forward. Air Force will begin a national search for a new head coach immediately.”

Pilipovich became head coach in February 2012 after Air Force fired Jeff Reynolds. Pilipovich led the program to one winning season, in 2012-13, earning an invitation to the CollegeInisder.com Postseason Tournament.
