Lakewood police are investigating the death of a 64-year-old man who was gunned down in front of his apartment late Monday night when he returned home from grocery shopping, authorities said.
Robert Gene Steige was the victim, John Romero, Lakewood police spokesman, said.
No suspect has been identified, Romero said. Steige was shot at least one time, he said. His groceries were still inside his car..
Neighbors called police just before 11 p.m. and reported that they had heard multiple gunshots outside an apartment in the 8100 block of West 12th Avenue, Romero said.
Police are looking for anyone who has a home surveillance camera, he said.
