A member of Colorado’s Unified Command Group at the state’s emergency operation center tested positive for the novel coronavirus after becoming symptomatic on Saturday.
State officials are now trying to figure out how many people the staff member came into contact with while working in the emergency operation center.
Staff at the center have been going through daily medical screenings, and the work space is thoroughly disinfected every night, spokeswoman Micki Trost said in a statement.
Staff members have been asked to evaluate whether they worked in the same area as the infected person in the last 48 hours and if so, to self-quarantine and monitor themselves for symptoms, Trost said. Additionally, anyone with symptoms who was not in close contact with the infected person will nevertheless stay home, Trost said.
Beginning Monday, the Unified Command Group will up its medical screenings of staff from once daily to twice daily, Trost said.
Staff members are also asked to wear masks in public, as Gov. Jared Polis requested of all Colorado residents Friday.
