WATCH: MSU Denver uses 3D printing lab to produce personal protective equipment for health care workers

Ted Shin, the chair of the Department of Industrial Design at Metropolitan State University of Denver, could see coronavirus coming, first in China, then in Italy.

He saw the strain on health care workers and decided to act. Health care workers were running out of personal protective equipment, or PPE, and he knew the university could help. After discussions with the dean, they re-opened the university’s 3D printing lab, even while the school was closed.

A few phone calls later, they joined a group from to start printing PPE face shields.
