Colorado’s top judge on Thursday extended a statewide suspension on jury trials through June 1 due to the coronavirus.

The extension means that nobody will be required to report for jury duty through May. by Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Nathan Coats extended an order issued March 16 that suspended all jury trials.

Judges in local courts have been given the authority to manage how other court hearings proceed in their jurisdictions.

The extension could scramble plans for at least one upcoming high-profile case — again. The trial of Mark Redwine, accused of killing his 13-year-old son in 2012, was scheduled to begin April 2. for a May 26 start due to the coronavirus.
