Former New York City mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg bought a $44 million ranch in northwest Colorado last month, according to real estate records and the Wall Street Journal.

The 4,600-acre estate along the White River sits near Meeker in Rio Blanco County and was owned for nearly 30 years by billionaire Henry Kravis, co-founder of KKR & Co.

Known as Westlands, the sprawling property was sold for about $44.8 million April 14 to Westlands LLC, which lists its business address as that of a New York City law firm, according to county real estate records. The Wall Street Journal tied the purchase to Bloomberg, citing “people with knowledge of the transaction.”

The ranch, listed for sale by Hall and Hall in January 2019, features fishing and hunting grounds, a four-hole golf course and tennis court. The main home includes five bedrooms, a bar, game room and home theater, according to the former listing. The listing agent, Brian Smith, declined to comment Thursday.

The opulent property also includes guest quarters and an outdoor pool, as well as buildings to house staff and support services.

Bloomberg made the purchase about six weeks after ending his presidential campaign. He spent about $500 million of his own fortune on the bid to become the Democratic presidential nominee.
