With the start of the Major League Baseball season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we here at The Denver Post took a look at how the Rockies would fare in MLB The Show 20 on PlayStation 4. We will have a story for every game that had been scheduled until real-life baseball returns. Here’s a look at the virtual Rockies’ preseason preview. Entering Tuesday’s game, the Rockies were 31-15.
CHICAGO — The Rockies hit three home runs, including a grand slam by second baseman Ryan McMahon, en route to a 12-5 thrashing of the White Sox Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Chicago got off to a quick start, putting up three runs in the first inning against Jon Gray (8-1). But the Rockies starter settled in and didn’t allow another run in his seven innings of work.
Colorado got a run in the second and the fifth innings before McMahon’s mammoth blast in the sixth to take the lead. David Dahl had a three-run double and Trevor Story added a two-run homer to cap off a five-run eighth.
The Rockies improved to 32-15 on the year while the White Sox fell to 21-27. The two teams will finish off their two-game series on Wednesday. Antonio Senzatela (3-0) will start for Colorado against Chicago’s Gio Gonzalez (3-4).
